Back to coffee reviews with the Pilot Coffee Ana Sora! So far over the past month I’ve had the opportunity to review two other Toronto-based roasters and this would be the third (hopefully more to come). Pilot Coffee is one of the coffee roasters I frequent most often on a day-to-day basis. Why? They have a location located downtown that I walk by everyday (back pre-COVID) on my way to work. They typically have a nice rotating roast and some decent baked goods as well. Anyways, this review is on the Pilot Coffee Ana Sora that I believe someone gave me as a gift a few months ago. I apologize for reviewing the beans a bit past their optimal freshness (though you can use this to help extend freshness)!
On to the coffee – the Ana Sora is grown in Ethiopia by owner Israel Degfa. Apparently the beans are grown at quite a high altitude. The coffee is quite berry-forward and sweet, so perhaps not as suited for an espresso but more for pourovers (in my opinion). That being said, I definitely still made some espresso with this and it was fine. The bag cost around $19 (for 340g). It was a relief that this wasn’t another $20+ 250g bag. Another solid coffee from a great local roaster! Go try it!
