Today I’m doing a review of the Ethica Roasters Ethiopia Buku Sayisa Coffee Beans. I decided to start off the blog with a nice coffee bean review (hopefully one of many to come). Coffee at home used to be a luxury reserved for the weekends. However, working from home has given me the freedom and time to brew coffee (or pull an espresso shot) at home. Since we started working from home nearly a year ago, I’ve made an effort to have more coffee/espresso at home. This lets me support local roasters and coffee shops who may be having a tougher time.
Today I am reviewing the Ethiopia Buku Sayisa from Ethica Roasters. They are located in Toronto near the MOCA and as far as I know opened just before the pandemic hit in February 2020.
I ended up using these beans to pull espresso shots since that’s been my preferred method of caffeination recently. I do think it would taste amazing in a pourover as well (should try that for future reviews). Definitely get some berry notes coming through – my favourite! However I probably wouldn’t recommend these to coffee drinkers who are used to having darker roasts from something like a Tim Hortons/Starbucks. Anyways, despite not being open for that long, Ethica has joined the ranks of Propeller/Pilot as my favourite local roasters. Also worth noting the bag is only 250g, but as usual I store my opened beans in one of these.
If you want to give it a try you can buy the Ethica Roasters Ethiopia Buku Sayisa Coffee directly from them here.
